In Wisconsin, a person must be certified to work with lead-based paint. A lead-safe renovator certification is for a person who directs and does lead-safe renovation work in pre-1978 homes or facilities with children.

Lead-safe renovators must be associated with a certified lead company when doing lead work.

Duration

Two or four years. A four-hour refresher training is required every four years to renew.

Fees

$75 for two years or $150 for four years. State and local government workers don’t have to pay the fee.
